Among her solo exhibitions it’s worthwhile to remind those for different Italian tourism-promoting bodies, the one at the Arengario Palace at the Milan Cathedral_ the Duomo_ the one at the Palazzo Merula in Vigevano and at the cultural association “Famiglia Legnese” in Legnano (Milan), Palazzo Cesare Perry in Montepaone, Galleria Vento d’Arte in Rho, Palazzo Merula Vigevano. International recognition golden medal AUPi.

The art critic, Boris Brollo wrote :” Two big lines are at the basis of the interesting painting expression of Marianna Procopio, beyond her poetic interpretation of colors coming from her native country: Calabria, the south’s  Italian region , which is the “foot” of Italy”.

Consciously or unconsciously her inspiration goes back to the painters of the late 800s and exactly to the post impressionism of Van Gogh.

The horizon line goes up and reaches the highest part of the canvas, thus getting the immediate and full immersion of our sight.

The eye, the sight and our whole body: they all lose themselves in the vision proposed by her paintings, often portraying flowers or wide spaces, that remind to the iris or the Van Gogh’s fields of La Crau just outside Arles. The abolition of perspective brings us to the parallel researches of that time, linked to and influencing the development of photography. Here again there’s a new sense about perspective, no more three-dimensional, but bi-dimensional, thus endorsing the poetry of the written page, that the great Vincent had sensed beyond the Japanese art of painting, full of “patterns” and decorative details.

Marianna Procopio uses this bi-dimensional poetry in broader terms, as she never reaches the total abstraction of Monet’s lilies, but remains on a prior level and uses shining strokes of brush on these wide surfaces, reminding to star’s swarms or wounds in the darkness of the night, slashed by fireflies with their sabres of light. Her yellow, her blue and the use of purple make her main color palette a poetic voice within the modernity of her way of painting, always well studied and never shallow.

She was invited, in three occasions, 2015 till 2017 to exhibit in London by Totem Visual arts in the women collective Warmi London.  Then, two Solo art exhibition invited by the Council of Montepaone. Currently, she has permanently her ultimate productions at Villa Scheibler, Rho, a city located in the surrounding area of Milan.

Marianna Procopio lives in Rho city and spend her time between her town Montepaone and Tuscany.
